Team Staff for 2021 Disabled World Championships Selected


USA Adaptive Water Ski & Wake Sports (USA-AWSWS) has selected the Team Staff for the 2021 Disabled World Championships. Jessica Van Dyk will serve as Team Manager, Brian Detrick as Team Coach, and Keith Barbour as Team Physician.


Jessica Van Dyk has been selected to serve as the Team Manager for the 2021 World Disabled Water Ski team. She has been active in the adaptive water ski community for many years and most recently served as the assistant manager for the last 3 World Championships. She is also a rated official and Secretary of the Board for the USA-AWSWS. Her experience with the team and at the world championships as well as her passion for adaptive water skiing makes her a great addition to the team.


Brian Detrick, who served as the assistant coach at the 2019 Disabled World Championships, has been selected for the role of head coach for the 2021 Worlds. As a pro water skier with more than 25 years of experience with adaptive water skiing, Detrick has coached adaptive athletes to World Championships and World and National Records. His knowledge of the sport and experience with coaching, both in adaptive and able-bodied water skiing, will be a essential asset for Team USA.


Dr. Keith Barbour, DO will serve as Team Physician. Keith, known as to everyone as “Doc”, has been on the US Team Staff for over 10 years. He is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist and has been practicing for 31 years, using his expertise to keep Team USA healthy and on the water. Doc also assists in classification at the world championships and is always more than willing to assist when athletes from other teams are injured. Team USA is grateful for his continued support!


The World Championships will be held in Australia in February of 2021. The US Team will be selected in the fall of 2020 at the National Championships to be held in Paducah, Kentucky.
