Paducah to Host the 2018 National Championships

**Posted originally on usawaterski.org

The Water Skiers with Disabilities Association is pleased to announce the 2018 Disabled Water Ski National Championships will be hosted by the Kentucky Lake Ski Nuts, Sept. 5-8, at Twin Oaks Lakes in Paducah, Ky. The club has extensive experience with hosting world-record capability tournaments. It also will be hosting its 10th Southern Regional Water Ski Championships next July. The results from this 25th Disabled Nationals will be used to select the 2019 U.S. Disabled Team, which will compete in the 2019 Disabled Water Ski World Championships. The team members will be announced at the Nationals’ awards banquet on Saturday, Sept. 8.

The Disabled Nationals features the United States’ top disabled water ski athletes competing for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall. There are three categories – Seated, Standing and Vision Impaired. Event winners are based on a two-round total of overall points compared to the 2016 U.S. National Records. Overall winners are based on the overall points from the best of either round as compared to the 2016 U.S. National records.

The WSDA is hoping it will have several visitors from other countries so that it can add another U.S. vs. the World component to the Nationals. There will be a day of official familiarization followed by two rounds of competition over three days.
